In honor of the Pittsburgh Penguins proceeding to the second round, I bought this penguin at a café. They hadn't made a sign for it yet, so I didn't know what kind of cake(?) it was, what it cost, or what its name was.

When I asked for a penguin, the lady looked completely baffled for a few second, but then she smiled and knew what I meant. I asked her what it was called, but she hadn't been told, so maybe they haven't named it yet?

It turned out not to be a cake, but a marshmallow. The fluff had turned a bit rubbery where it wasn't covered in chocolate and it was extremely sweet, so I probably won't get one again. Unless the Penguins win round 2, of course, then I'll have to.

I can just imagine the bafflement :D It looks like a slightly melty penguin, but it's a fun idea! Too bad it wasn't as tasty as it looks. And congrats to Pittsburgh, I guess? (It is Pittsburgh? Do people usually conflate team/city in NHL?)

They all looked slightly wonky, and this one has chocolate dribbled down its chest, but I find it charming. You can tell the baker sculpted each one individually, no molds or robots used! I don't know if it was tasty, I usually like flødeboller a lot, so maybe I was unpleasantly surprised by the sweetness because I wasn't in the mood for it and I was expecting a tart mousse.

Thank you, and yes, people do say just the city/state name when they mean the team.

I forgot to ask before, who is your NFL team?

My team is the NY Giants. I can't say there's a super good reason except they played in the first game I watched on tv, and I like them, and it gives me the opportunity to battle against the BFF whose team is Greenbay Packers, which is in the same conference, so they usually butt heads pretty early in the season. It also means I am a fan of the Manning brothers which is one of those divisive things.

Anyway, I haven't been able to keep up with the NFL for the past couple of years, but I do miss it sometimes.

While it's a little 'off-spec' for a penguin, I want to give a little cheer for the baker going on and making something just a bit out of training. May the Penguins keep going so all the artisans can perfect their penguins.

Hopefully next time you'll know which media it's sculpted in, and dine appropriately!
