Oh god, the insisting you do something until it becomes an embarassing scene! Maybe all parents have that in common.

I don't understand why baby-holding is such a thing, to be honest - not why the parents would want others to hold their child, and not why I would want to hold it, and how it can possibly be polite to ask to hold it.
