Just like in the world at large, there is a lot of privilege in fandom. We're all soaking in it.

But a year ago, before Racefail09, I wouldn't even have spoken up. The problems we face are real and serious, and a lot of people are going to step on other people without even noticing them, but I feel hopeful. We are making progress.
