Heterosexuality = everything that is good and normal
Homosexuality = it's about sex, and not for kids

I get so tired of hearing this all the time. What do these people imagine? That I'm heterosexual when I get up in the morning and brush my teeth, that I'm heterosexual when I shop in the supermarket, that I'm heterosexual when I play with the neighbor's cat when it comes running over to say hello, and then when I go to kiss a girl I do some sort of deliberate, mental mode-switch and in that moment only am homosexual? And then afterward, I go back to the default heterosexual mode?

It's pretty obvious (and very sad) that a lot of people must think something like that.

Like a gal and guy walking down the street hand in hand isn't 'sexual'. It _can_ be cute if they aren't all over each other. (Which happens more among them than other handholding couples) Just like two okay looking guys, or an older couple are cute when they walk down the street holding hands.

In case you wonder, women holding hands I couldn't say if it's cute, since they could just be trying not to lose each other while shopping. (In American culture at least, men only touch because of sports or 'relationship'. Handhold implies more than just a sexsexsex relationship. Other cultures allow samesex friends, not just women, to hold hands.)
